Installing a testing store

Hi

I want to install a second oscommerce store on my server for testing purposes. I already have a seperate mysql database. I will install the second store in a different directory on the server to the rest of my site. I was just wondering if this might mess up my existing site. Is there any way of going about this in a safe manner?
