Great start but a few problem areas in my opinion. The scrolling text is like too much banner advertisement. It doesn't stop and is quite frustrating. You welcome Canadian shoppers, are you closed to US residents? What currency are prices in? I'm in Toronto too, and these are issues that you need to address. If you want to play off ofyour location, make it clear.

Now, lets get to the serious stuff. Product descriptions seem like a joke. Need to spend more time building up each item. It's a pain but it will be well worth it IMO. Also, what's the deal with credits and points??? Too confusing whatever you are tring to do. Instead just give discounts on everything. Confusing your dumb customers is a bad idea!

Finally, I get the use of color to play off army, but it's just too green and dull. Maybe change the background color to something else?

Admittedly I'm really tired, but when I looked at your front page my first thought was just confusion. It's too busy, my eyes had no idea where they should be looking first, or next. I would break it up into more digestable sections, either using more spaceing, or more distinct background change, or something?

There is a hell of a lot of info on that index page, it just needs to be more clearly presented.

thanks for the replies.

I appreciate your critique.

I will reply by saying that we are quite a large military supply company with locations in the USA, and Canada. Our american website can be found at www.armynavydeals.com.

Hmm what kind of backround colors do you think would work best Richard?

As for currency prices are reflected in Canadian and US currency.

The credits and points I thought was pretty obvious, for every dollar you spend you get points which you can then use to buy items. I do agree with the building up of each item BY FAR THIS IS THE BEST IDEA!!!

We also do give discounts on everything, It seems you are suggesting great things but maybe have not actually explored the site fully? Did you sign up? You do however pose some great stuff I will deffinietly work on!! I thank you

BTW we have over 50,000 items to be added LOL so product description take up alot of time

I would take out the -> arrows and change the roll over color to something that matches your site in the left category menu. I think your scroll info is annoying in the header. Your header in my opinion is not professional and looks like a low quality gif. Other then that you have too many colors on the site. Try to stick to a 3 color color scheme.

Thanks, your site is very nice... perfect for what you are offering, I like your reliability icons at the bottom of your pages...

I guess industry kind of calls for the overall theme of the site... Im trying to figure out how I can keep the same colors but at the same time cut down on the colors I am using and give the page a more directed feel. i do agree alot of confusion seems to come from the center of the page, which then totally detracts from the sides of the page as well... it does look a bit confusing,

Any ideas on how I can optimize this all ? I would appreciate any help.

I like your colours, they suit your theme and don't detract from the business of buying! (although if anything the red is a bit too much).

people keep advising us to remove the product counts but man it is SO annoying to go into categories that have no products! I guess once you get more stock loaded that won't be an issue.

You did this yourself? fabbo!

No experience with web design before? awesome job!!!

Thanks for the compliments

I have made some changes as suggetsted by other viewers...

I changed the header graphic to something a bit clearer....

I changed text colors and removed some of the confusion in the middle of the page although im not sure if I did it to the viewers expectations.

I cut down on the red text and also have cut down on the multiple colors and have made 3 main colors that im using.

I really could use more input... Im still not too happy with the header graphic, but I guess it will have to suffice for now... as I suck at graphics.. Im more of a programmer.

I removed the scroll and changed the link rollovers as suggested.

I did all this by myself up to this point.. I am proud but I do wish I could get away from the whole Oscommerce look more...

Any suggestions people? Help??????

Thanks alot

it looks better, perhaps the uncle sam could be in a different colour? it's a bit full on! and then the red maple leaf will really stand out.

few typos... "that's" and give Candadian the capital C they deserve!

yes, your graphic logo is still a bit ordinary, looks like screenshots and items from The Sims. (now who has time to play that anymore...!!!)

2 things I have noticed straight away.

At 800x600 screen resolution, the pages overflows to the right.

In IE6, the top navbar is not straight. The centre piece drops down about 5px and separates from the breadcrumb and the link bar.

Apart from that, I think that the other issues have been addressed.

I think that the background is ok, as it reflects your store's purpose.

Hope these comments help.

do you know of any way I can address he issues you mention?

Would the centershop contribution fix the resoloution issues?

Also I have tried to get rid of that 5px space but cannot find for the life of me where to remove the extra space.... any ideas?

Thanks alot for the suggestions!!! I will work on them!

Just so everyone knows all comments are appreciated and I will react based upon what you say, so I really do take all advice and run with it!!!
