lancaster_unik Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Hello, I have set up and been running an Oscommerce website for several months now and i have found it simple and easy to use. In my attempt to maximise exposure i have created a second oscommerce website with a different look and feel but the same catalog contents. I find myself repeating a lot of the data input from one database to the next. What i am looking to do is have a central database and then feed the two skins with the same data. (Same principle as current but less repeated work :) ) What i would like to know is 1) If i use two seperate databases is there a contribution to syncronise the key data? such as products etc....? This would possibly be the best solution as i could then set up different special offers etc... I have a sycronisation script running via an XML feed to my supplier... this updates my stock levels according to theres so i guess its possible its just how do i create it / where do i get it from? Anyway... Any help appreciated
Daemonj Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 If you cannot specify the current database server as the mysql database for your second site, then you will likely need to utilize a multiple stores or mall contribution. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
