Hi, I just installed oscommerce in our server as test purpose all basic functionalities are working fine including placing order and stuffs. However, when I go to admin, it doesn?t ask me for any user name or password. Its like when I type /admin/ its just there. No login or logout option. Does anyone know how to enable it?

Also, can I use oscommerce with my own custom made website instead oscommerce skin? If yes, is there any tutorial or any documentation on this? Thank you.

1. go to your hosts c-panel and password protect the directory

2. you could use STS but I suggest playing with the files and getting the look you want--mainly the boxes files, header, and footer--if you can figure out the code then you can get a good look.

Sure I will play around with header, footer & column_left etc. and see if I can get what I want.

Though, I don?t know what STS means (is it some kind of template system?), can you please tell me which one is the smarter and faster option if I want to use osCommerce in eCommerce websites. Thank you for your reply

sts is simple template system--I have not used it but a lot of people do--a lot of people dont see an advantage of it since a lot of contributions that you may end up wanting will not work with it.

Just playing around and using the forums you can accomplish a lot--give yourself a few weeks of understanding it all and know that if you can think of the question it has probably already been answered on these forums somewhere

good luck!

Thank you very much; I really appreciate your help. I think if oscommerce used template system like smarty, it would be much easier to change the outlook.
