Postage and non price items

A few questions.....

 

1) I wanted to create a website for my local dog rescue home, just a way for people to browse what animals they have which need rehoming. The animals wont have a price on them as again its just a way for people to browse before coming to the rescue centre and talking about what animal they would like to rehome (They then have to have their home checked etc). So i would like to create an oscommerce 'shop' to have the different types, eg dogs/cats and then people can view the animals without ?0.00 etc.

 

How on oscommerce do i do this ? If i set the value to 0 then it comes up with ?0.00. Is there an easy way to get rid of the price altogether on the items ?

 

2) My main problem creating oscommerce shops is how to do the postage. I have two sites i'm doing, one a furniture shop and another a shop for small items.

 

If i use the Royal Mail module i take it everything has to be weighed exactly to find out their cost ? For the furniture site is there a way of saying 'anything they buy over 100 pounds they get free postage in the UK' ? And also how would i set it up for a courier, eg 0-25 kg's - one price, 25 kgs-50 equals another etc ?

For a courier - I did this for ours - it has a standard fee up to 20kg and then a per Kg rate after that:

If you just want a few weights/prices, then the standard table rate module will do it .

 

The Royal Mail modules will need the weights to be accurate - also bear in mind the changes that are coming into effect soon - they are changing the small item rules so that large or thicker packages cost more - check out the royalmail.com site for details.

That works well, when an item is 0 then the price of 0.00 doesnt appear

 

However what files should i look for as next to Product Name i also have 'Price' and 'Buy it Now'.

 

There are no figures here as the code worked for 0.00 , any clues where to look so i can cancel out the text of Price and Buy it now ?
