i have db backups of my shop 1500+ products and i have backups of the php files that have been changed/customised.

my previous hosts are no more , and i cannot retrieve any more php files.

i have installed a new os commerce succesfully on my new host server.

i have ftp'd the customised php files, and the shop appears to be the same.

how do i upload the db to the new shop ?

thanx dave..

Best choice is to access phpmyadmin via your hosting control panel and import your latest backup from there.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

thanks richard for the quick reply.

i have managed to populate the db with php my admin but when i do so my shop will not send emails or allow user login.

if i then put in the default db supplied with fantastico the shop functions ok.

Drop the Fantastico install, there's no need for it, as it's so easy to install osCommerce yourself.

Download the updated osCommerce zip file from downloads at www.oscommerce.com, and unzip it on your computer.

If you want the site to be in a folder called 'catalog' then upload the catalog folder and all of its contents to the root of your web (public_html, html, htdocs, httpdocs - whatever it is called). If you want the site to be in the root of your domain (http://www.yourdomain.com) then upload the contents of the catalog folder, but not the folder itself.

Make sure that you have a blank database ready (no tables), and know your MySQL User Name and Password.

Then (for an install in a folder) go to http://www.yourdomain.com/catalog and the install will begin. Drop the /catalog for an install into the root of your domain.

During the install don't enable SSL, and don't tick the box to use Persistent Connections, but do elect to store sessions in the database and not in files.
