After setting up OsCommerce....I found more than 7 extra fields in the categories in the Admin panel, starting with My Store and right down to Sessions. :'(

I went up to the database and checked around but could not find where it would show these extra fields so I can delete them.

How do I fix this?

Thank you,

Francine

Can you pleae explain in a different manner what the problem is?

You found 7 extra fields where and what are they called? Are they fields in a database table or something else?

Ok...when I go into the Admin panel thru browser. Under Configuration --> My Store.

I have 7 duplicate fields to input Store Name. This goes for everything under My Store.

Minimum Values

Maximum Values

Images

Customer Details

Shipping/Packaging

Product Listing

Stock

Logging

Cache

E-Mail Options

Download

GZip Compression

Sessions

They all have 7 duplicate fields of each field thats in them.

Hope I explained this a little better for you.

Is this a brand new installation of osCommerce or has the store been up for a while?

If you just finished running the install script then I imagine that a few problems were encountered causing the install script to be run multiple times.

If you have not entered any categories and/or products into the catalog, simply access your store's database via PHPMyAdmin and select to drop all of the tables currently in the database. Then select the SQL tab and import the catalog/install/oscommerce.sql file and all should be fine.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

Thank you for your answer. I had to open the oscommerce.sql and deleted those extra fields before I did what you suggested in your last paragraph. It worked!

Thank you.

If the duplicate entries were in your oscommerce.sql file something was wrong with your download.

Did you get the download from oscommerce.com or somewhere else?

It was actually my nephew who installed it along with a free template from templatemonster.

Not sure if templatemonster has a download of oscommerce on its site.
