nrated Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Hi, I am in the process of building a new oscommerce store, it is mostly for downloads (music) and ringtones. I have not had this problem before and have been tearing my hair out after trying several different ways of loading products into one particular category - RINGTONES. Out of a few category's I have there, this is the only one that has the problem of taking forever to load. Each ringtone sample has four options (different file types in product attributes). You can take a look at the site at www.Nrated.com and see what i'm talking about, try clicking on the other categorys and you'll see they load quickly then try the 'RINGTONES' category and eventually it will come through. The samples are swf files, which i changed because I thought it might be the fact that the product images contain music that could be stopping the page from loading quickly, what is there now is a swf image, which contains a link to a swcond swf file that contains the music (please dont be too hard on me because of the way the site is right now, i admit it's looking a little messed up because of me trying to figure out this problem, but i'm fully aware of the design changes that I need to make!!!!) If anybody has any answers/solutions as to why this one category is taking forever to load I would be really, really, really grateful! I am in the process of pulling my hair out with it since i messed up all the design/layout of where I was going with the site and its still not loading the pages in less than two minutes (and i'm on broadband!) nrated Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 thanks for that suggestion, although i did try it, the problem remained the same! So what i have done in admin is change the setting so that product images do not show up in the product listing pages, and that has worked. Thanks and if you have any more suggestions regarding the problem, it would be nice to get it working! Thanks again!
choosealogin Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 For what it's worth, I tried your Ringtones category earlier, before you removed the images...and it loaded fast....no problems. :huh: I went to several other categories and didn't notice a difference. My connection is nothing special, just regular cable. :huh: Not sure what that means, but I though I would let you know.
