Noni Networks Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 It is an honor to be a member of one of the greatest forums around - the osCommerce Community. I read many of the topics and I have to say, the members of this forums has probably increased the quality of many sites through their knowledgeable opinions. I have recently became an authorized distributor of Tahitian Noni International products - which is a new type of industry, yes, industry. There has never been such products of its kind that has delivered so many benefits. Since there were no sites out there that was really marketing their site, I decided that I would give it a shot - and here I am. Oscommerce seemed to be the best type of management system for what I was trying to do. I have install the following contributors: Froogle Feed SEO Url's Header Tags Thumbnails Affiliate Program (not visible yet) Individual Shipping PayPal is my payment gateway, hence, I am not using SSL at the moment. However, I plan to start using a merchant account and get SSL on my site. I am looking for all comments regarding my site, which is located at http://www.noninetworks.com. Please look at the search engine friendliness of the site. Sincerely, Justin A. Linn

♥bruyndoncx Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Nice looking site, just a few things I'd change: - remove manufacturer from the advanced search - find a better position for the miscelleneous links top left KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support). So if you are still here ? What are you waiting for ?! Find the most frequent unique errors to fix: grep "PHP" php_error_log.txt | sed "s/^.* PHP/PHP/g" |grep "line" |sort | uniq -c | sort -r > counterrors.txt
Guest Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Why do you have a language link (English) at the top left, when you only have the one language? You have a typo in your header: "Now in yout cart 0 items" The arrows next to the links at top left, i.e. About us, etc. look slightly wrong due to them having a different background colour than the header image that they are sitting on. Haven't had time to dive too deeply, but on first impressions this is a very very nice looking site.
abra123cadabra Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Nice looking site but hey, the load time was too long. Took 13 sec before I could see the first thing on the page and a total of 21 secs to be completely displayed. I'm on a fast dsl line. Didn't have time to have a closer look. The product descriptions are not enough for me to buy the products. There is no scientific proof that it does what it claims it does but don't use it when pregnant... makes me think the stuff might have undesired side effects. And if you don't want to take it yourself, you can even get some for your horse... Sorry, drifting away from the review part of my visit. Just writing down my thoughts about what's on offer. abra The First Law of E-Commerce: If the user can't find the product, the user can't buy the product. Feedback and suggestions on my shop welcome. Note: My advice is based on my own experience or on something I read in these forums. No guarantee it'll work for you! Make sure that you always BACKUP the database and the files you are going to change so that you can rollback to a working version if things go wrong.
Noni Networks Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 Thank you for those constructive replies to my post! >>>You have a typo in your header: "Now in yout cart 0 items" The typographical error has been correct and has been replaced with the following text: "There are 0 items in your cart." >>>Why do you have a language link (English) at the top left, when you only have the one language? The English language icon and link at the top portion of the site has been removed until the site is updated to a multi-lingual site. >>>The arrows next to the links at top left, i.e. About us, etc. look slightly wrong due to them having a different background colour than the header image that they are sitting on. >>>find a better position for the miscelleneous links top left The links have been removed. When I first implemented the links, I did not feel they fitted the section of the site. However, I did want visitors to have access to them. I have provided a About Us link in the veritical navigation bar, hence, there is no need for the links in question. >>remove manufacturer from the advanced search The manufacturer drop-down box has been removed from the Advanced Search query. >>Took 13 sec before I could see the first thing on the page and a total of 21 secs to be completely displayed. >>I really like the site! Nice... Pages load quickly for me. Even a nice privacy policy. I personally have noticed where the site has loaded fast at times and slow at times. This is with many sites - but I do not think that is a chronic problem. Zend Optimizer? is installed on the server to help things. >>The product descriptions are not enough for me to buy the products. >>There is no scientific proof that it does what it claims it does but don't use it when pregnant... makes me think the stuff might have undesired side effects. I have future plans to implement a nice portion of the site dedicated to the research done by scientists on the effects and benefits of Tahitian Noni Juice. I do have other sites linking in which contains research information. The product does not have any known side effects. Again, I thank you for the replies and it is really appreciated that you took your time to review my website. Please feel free to post more suggestions and comments. Sincerely, Justin A. Linn
Arcadiauk Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 A very nice clean looking site, but I would definately set the category count to false in your admin panel you just don't need to see it. Even though there is nothing wrong with a stock oscommerce shop (we all have to start somewhere) it's really nice to see a non-stock shop, did you use a template or have you spent time designing it yourself? We've been using oscommerce for my wifes lingerie business for about a year and a half now and with a lot of hard work and dedication you can definately make these oscommerce stores work. We never thought the business would take off the way it has done so I wish you every success with your site :) Derek

We never thought the business would take off the way it has done so I wish you every success with your site :) Derek Dear Derek, Thank you for taking the opportunity to review my site and suggest the aforementioned changes. Regarding the category count, this has now been set to "false." This site was originally a beauty shop template but I totally redesigned it into the site it is. Although I am a professional web developer, I did not have the time to spend designing a custom cart, as the project was time sensitive. UPDATE: I updated all the sites graphics in hopes of keeping a strictly clean design. Please let me know how these changes look.
Arcadiauk Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Looks much better without the category count :) One thing I have noticed is that the eBay advert on your homepage breaks your site Derek
Noni Networks Posted July 8, 2006 Author Posted July 8, 2006 Dear Derek, Thank you for noticing that! I usually test in several browsers to insure that there is no conflicts in different browsers - obviously this time I did not. When you posted the snapshot, I immediately knew the problem. Look at my code: <tr> <td width="163" height="149" style="padding-top:3px; "><a href="tahititrimplan40appetitesuppressant-p-98.html"><img src="images/appetite.jpg" width="163" height="149" border="0" alt="Appetite Suppressant" /></a></td></tr> <tr> <td style="padding-top:3px; "><a href="equineessentials-p-60.html"><img src="images/equine.jpg" width="163" height="103" alt="Equine Essentials" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-2069782-1931439" target="_top"> <img src="http://www.awltovhc.com/image-2069782-1931439" width="120" height="240" alt="Click here for your favorite eBay items" border="0"/></a></td></tr> Notice the bolded code, there is no BR tag, hence, keeping the advertisement on the same line as the Equine Essentials image. For some reason in Mozilla Firefox, the line did break even without the BR tag. Problem has been corrected by placing a BR tag between the highlighted code.
