OM2 Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Sorry if this sounds a dumb question: how easy is it to install OSCommerce? I thought I'd try asking this first before I started spedning a lot of time reading how to install. I have a few other questions: 1. I don't want to force the user to HAVE to register. Can I do this? In the dummy live sample... you had to register your details - no other choice. 2. How customisable is it all? ALL the shops I've seen are ALL the same!! Left and right and top and bottom and bit in the middle. OK... OK... so different colours or fonts. But... heck... they all look the same! Are there any readically different ones out there...? ANY replies would be appreciated. Thanks. OM
jasonabc Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Sorry if this sounds a dumb question: how easy is it to install OSCommerce? You can usually install OSC thru Fantastico/vDeck or other web hosting control panel. It's just a one-click installation procedure. If installing locally you can run the installer that comes with OSC, or extract the files where you want your store to go and run the oscommerce.sql file on the database. I don't want to force the user to HAVE to register. Can I do this? Yes - there are a couple of contributions that add this feature to OSC. Try this one: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,355 How customisable is it all? OSC offers an extremely high level of customisation. The best reskin/custom job of OSCommerce I've ever seen is the Official Formula One Racing store - check it out here: http://f1store.formula1.com/catalog/ Jason My Contributions: Paypal Payflow PRO | Rollover Category Images | Authorize.net Invoice Number Fix
