Box and Header Help

I'm using a template and I noticed that on my left hand side of page it is located in the header.php file. So when I do edits would I place that in my header.php file for certain files or just in the same file it says to?

If you need to see site let me know I seen someone else get yelled at for placing site in post.

the infoboxes on the left side of the page are usually in column_left.php in the includes dir. Are you saying that the code for the left column is contained in your header.php?

Yes. I have a category which was included in the template and I changed the image but for me to do that I had to change it in the header.php file. So would I have to place edits in there instead of the left_column file?

I didn't read rules on this but I hope this is ok. Where I bolded above is where I noticed the image which is the VIBE magazine I changed it too, and is on the left hand side.
