designbyfox Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I am loosing my mind. I set up a CubeCart store with PayPal Pro, and it doesn't work. I set up OsCommerce store with PayPal Pro, and it doesn't work because I am not SSL certified. I used shared servers. So my question to YOU is who is using what? Are you using a shared server? Which payment module did you use? Did you have any problems with this method? Did it require a SSL certificate? How expensive is your method and can you direct me to where I can get more info on this type of service? Any other info would be greatly appreciated. I am really desparate. My hosting company is CHiHost.com Hope to hear from you soon. Very soon. Heather

Silverado05 Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Does your host not offer a SSL? That's kinda werid if it doesn't. I am with Bluehost and they offer a free one with the hosting package. I use PayPal as one method and have no probleme ethier. Search the forum and contributions before posting. If that doesn't work, keep looking, then post. bobg7 Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 I use the "PayPal_Shopping_Cart_IPN_v3.1.5" contribution with no problems. Didn't require SSL., I'm on a shared server and only costs a dollar something per transaction. Installed Contributions: CCGV, Close Popup, Dynamic Meta Tags, Easy Populate, Froogle Data Feeder, Google Position, Infobox Header Entire Row, Live Support for OSC, PayPal Seal with CC images, Report_m Sales, Shop by Price Revised, SQL Updater, Who's Online Enhancement, Footer, GNA EP Assistant and still going.
param_nirvana Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 I use paypal for my site SwamiPc www.swamipc.in Why don't you start with Paypal? Easy to setup and no setup charges. Supports multicurrencies. All others suck when it comes to Multicurrency handling. I evenmanaged to install CC but no use as Banks in that country doesn't do offline credit card processing. So I'm stuck with paypal. cheers Nirvana
designbyfox Posted July 4, 2006 Author Posted July 4, 2006 I am using a server call ChiHost.com . I am seriously considering moving it to BlueHost now. I will just have to eat the money I paid for the other server. And I do have PayPal setup. Its just not working. I get error codes once the person puts in the CC infomation. :'( I even paid someone to help me out, $100 and it still isn't working. I"m outta money and ideas. But if Bluehost works, then I will go there. PS, I love Family Guy :D
Guest Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I am using PayPal (just the basic module that comes with Osc) and a SSL (cost under $50 to buy and have installed by my hosting company - cause I don't have access to the file it goes into, otherwise, I would have done that part myself). Nothing else. Easy peasy.

It looks like I'll be adding Authorizenet again as an option. My Contribution Music Download Store Template http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,4275
driftwood Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 My server does not have SSL I use WorldPay & Paypal and have used others. Worldpay is by far the best I've used and once you get past the first payment it's as cheap as paypal. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- OSC user for years and no coder, so I've earned my stripes. Because the montly fee won't add up to nearly what you would be paying for setting up twice. If you do, just hold out. I got them down from $299 to $200 just by holding out for a few weeks. I went with a resller who advertises in this forum. But in one of these threads... someone pointed out an Authrorize.net reseller that was even cheaper than the one I was using. I think I'm going to go with them. My Contribution Music Download Store Template http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,4275
Silverado05 Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Man shoot me a PM on this if you don't mind. I went directly through Authorize.net so that might be why it's so high. I still haven't signed up with them yet. I am with linkpoint but want to switch because it has it's flaws. Just can't bring myself to pay $200 for it. Glad I am holding out. adill420 Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 can anyone tell me please that why would you choose authorize.net over paypal website payments pro?
Silverado05 Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Because with Pay-Pal the user has to register for an account. Authorize.net you can process Credit Cards directly on your site. I have found that some shy away if they have to register for an account espeically if they just registered with your site. Some people are lazy, bad enough they are shopping from the comfy comfines of home. A good adavantage to have Pay-Pal though is some don't have credit cards and with Pay-Pal they can pay directly from their bank account. Can you PM some of those resellers. I am just needing the gateway service. I have a merchant account already. I know some of those are cheap because you are signing up for a merchant account with them which is a win win for them. Which is why they cut the deal. Search the forum and contributions before posting. If that doesn't work, keep looking, then post. User can enter credit card information on your site and thats it. Also Virtual Terminal allows you to use stored credit card number and manually process payment? Please give some feedback as I need to make a decision. Thank you
Guest Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 confused about payment modules. we have linkpoint on another site, but from what i've read, linkpoint connect with osCommerce requires the user to enter peronsal information twice (first on the retail site, next for the linkpoint authorization). we'd rather go with a different processor and even pay a bit higher fees to ensure a seamless experience for the user (i.e., so they're not required to leave the retail site). is my understanding of the linkpoint connect module accurate? is the linkpoint API module configured the same way? i'm fairly certain my host offers dedicated IPs and SSL if required. are there any other credit card processing modules which offer a more integrated approach?
