Turning off language support temporally.

When adding a new product to the catalogue, it asks for the product name in Spanish and German as well as English.

 

Is there any way i can turn language support off so it doesn't ask me to enter the product name in three different languages? And also, so the customer only has the choice of using English?

Well, I'm not 100% sure if this won't have disasterous consequences, so definitely back up everything first.

 

In your admin section -> Localization -> Languages

 

each language has a "Delete" button which, I'm assuming would delete that language from your system.

 

With only the default language of English, I think your problem would go away.

 

But before getting that drastic, what happens if you just ignore the request for the product names in Spanish and German? They are not required are they? They are not required for my instance of the store. Just try not filling in that field.

They can't be disabled temporary, only deleted with languages.

Leave them blank while inserting new products or delete at all
