oxemoron Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Hey posted a topic yesterday but haven't had any responses hoping someone maybe sees this. I've setup and installed oscommerce on 1and1 following their exact directions. The site seems fully functional but it says "page can't be displayed" when trying to access checkout_shipping.php or when you try to create an account. The admin section is fully functional though. I tried the ssl fix and now have that in the code but it hasn't solved the problem. I've noticed in the admin section of 1and1 that there is an option to add dedicated ssl to their service. Should i add this option or is this not necessary. This is my first time setting up a shopping cart system and its been difficult. Heres the address to the catalog and thank you for any help you might be able to provide. I'm on a deadline which I'm worried I won't meet but maybe I will with your help. http://www.onlinechopshop.com/oscommerce
choosealogin Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Account related pages coming up with "page not found", or "page cannot be displayed", 404 errors, etc ...is very common. The usual reason is that you have SSL enabled in your configure.php files, but you do not have an SSL certificate. Those page links are pointing to *https://onlinechopshop.xxx/xxxx/, etc... If you don't have the 'dedicated' SSL that you mentioned, that will not work. You can go catalog/includes/configure.php and disable the SSL and/or get an SSL certificate. If a "shared" certificate came with your hosting for 'free', maybe ask your host for help configuring it. Ask them for the hostnames, addresses, etc that you need to point your secure pages to...and then use those addresses in your configure.php files.
oxemoron Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 I just checked and i do have ssl enabled without a dedicated ssl server. Do i need ssl? What exactly does it do? I need to get this project finished and don't really have the time to mess around anymore. I will buy the dedicated ssl option if thats what will fix the problem. Also because of the fact that I'm on a tight schedule is there a chance I might run into even more problems once ssl is solved or would I already know if there is other problems. I'm beginning to become tempted to set them up with something like yahoo shopping or something. They aren't concerned about paying monthly fees they just want the project completed this week. What do you guys suggest doing, i'm worried that i'll buy dedicated ssl and still not have a functional catalog.
AlanR Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 You just need to go into the admin panel and point the shared ssl to your domain. https://ssl.perfora.net/onlinechopshop.com/oscommerce/ Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)
