Adding "Lightbox" into product page?

There is this really cool image viewer that I would like to use with the cart. It's called LIGHTBOX and you can see it demo-ed here: http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/#overview

Anyhow, when you get to the product page, I would like it to activate when someone clicks on "VIEW LARGER IMAGE." My problem is, the HTML side of it is easy but since I have to write it into a php file I have no idea what to do or how. Can anyone show me how to insert this please. Thanks in advance.

Ok...here is what I do know how to do.

First I put this in the head section:

Then I also add an extra css file:

Then I need to find the "View larger image" link and add the following attribute to the tag in product_info.php

Add a rel="lightbox" attribute to any link tag to activate the lightbox.

If I was to write it out in a regular HTML page, it would look like this:

<a href="images/image-1.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="my caption">image #1</a>

All I need to know is where to add the rel="lightbox" in the product_info.php file.

Can someone help me please?

How about thickbox ? I personally am more interested in this approach as it can resize images and display texts in a box too.

If you look in the html_output.php file you will see the tep_href_link function. The second position defines the parameters. This is where you put any additional information into the link.

find the product image link in your product_info.php and insert your 'rel="lightbox"' into the second position. It will be near the <noscript> tags for the regular javascript pop-up.

Hi and thanks for replying. I did what you said and I understand it, but the javscript popup still takes precedance some how. Basically, my lightbox is not working but it seems like it should. How do I "turn off" the popup and activate the lightbox? Thanks again for your help. If you need to view my source, look at it at www.uniquetreasure.net/catalog

I had to make 2 changes in catalog/product_info.php

first add

How do you want to implement thickbox? I think it would be easy to implement, but I need to know what you want to do to better explain how to do it.

I put the js file(s) in the includes directory, but I referenced them correctly. My osC is heavily modded with at least 1 mod dealing with the html output (thumbnails on-the-fly) and multi-images....so maybe this is too much hassle for a "nice to have" feature....maybe when a working contrib is released (there already is one, but I found it poorly documented, and it didn't work either).

By the way.....on your link....I got standard pop-ups, not the lightbox ones......?

ok I also see that I am using lightbox V1 and not V2

i noticed you posted a contribution for implementing this, ( your web address is incorrect in the notes)

when i go to your site - it just shows the pics on their own blank page - is it working yet ?

There is a small downside to this script. It only becomes active after the page is completely loaded. If you click the link before the page is completely loaded it will just open a new browser page.

I am trying to figure a way around this.

Adding "Lightbox" into product page?
