Securing folder gave me 500 Internal Server Error

Hi,

 

My site had been going fine when I remembered that I hadn't secured the admin folder! :-" So, I went into cpanel, did that and carried on.

 

It's only today that I've noticed that I can't now add new products, or edit current ones. I get this note if I try:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

 

Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

 

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

 

My error logs state:

Anyone got any ideas?

If you applied security to admin using cPanel then that's unlikely to be the cause of the error - but you can try removing it to see if it does help.

 

But the error points to a missing colon in one of your files.

Okay, I installed a fresh vanilla version of admin/categories.php and that seems to have solved the problem. What concerns me is that I first tried to install a back-up from April and the problem still occurred. However, this problem has only been happening for about a week, so I wonder if there is something else going on.

 

The trouble now is that the fresh version does not include the changes that I made months ago with the Extra Fields Contribution. When I make those changes the error occurs. But I've got to have the extra fields.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions?
