ossie1234 Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I'm new to the forum but am implementing an osc shopping cart on my website and want to implement the Paypal Payment Pro solution. Can someone point me to the most recent contribution for this PP solution. Is this it: PayPal Website Payments Pro by dynamoeffects v0.7.3 or is there something more recent? I really appreciate your help. Quote

I appreciate your response. Is it true that with this solution the customer has the choice of using express checkout which takes the customers to Paypal and submits their name and shipping address and then they are returned to your site? This is too much. I want them to stay on my site unless they are paying by Paypal. Can the express checkout be disabled? Quote
Guest Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Hi Ossie: you can only use that Paypal module if the server has some Pear stuff installed. I don't understand it but apparently a specific Pear or SOAP module or software must be activated or installed on the Web server hosting your OSCommerce store. If Pear or SOAP or something is NOT installed on the web server, the DynamoEffects module will not work. If this is the case (call Tech Support and find out), consider downloading and installing the "Spike" Paypal WPP module available here: http://www.postosc.com/modules/mydownloads/ The module is called "osCommerce Payment Module for PayPal Website Payments Pro". This module does not require any fancy tweaks to the web server. AND you can leave Express Checkout turned off (I think). I have just spent a week troubleshooting why it wouldn't work correctly, and figured out something huge thanks to Amit (wppnewbe). That is... Use Filezilla to copy the files to the web server. Don't use any other FTP program. If you do, a ton of files/directories will not copy successfully. USE ONLY FILEZILLA TO COPY OVER THE FILES IN THIS MODULE TO THE WEB SERVER. I REPEAT - USE FILEZILLA. You can find that FTP program here: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ or here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=21558 I'm still troubleshooting the payment process with the sandbox (I get endless "Order Failure" email after trying to buy something) and cannot figure out why this testing process has to be so ridiculously complex, but I hope my wasted experience will save you some time going forward... Thanks Amit. I appreciate your response. dynamoeffects Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 (edited) Thanks Amit. Yes, it's true that the user has those options. No, unfortunately Paypal requires that you offer ExpressCheckout if you want to use their DirectPayment service. To disable ExpressCheckout is against their TOS. The only way to do it without offering ExpressCheckout is to use a traditional merchant account/gateway. If Pear or SOAP or something is NOT installed on the web server, the DynamoEffects module will not work. Not entirely true. You can upload the pear modules I included on the contribution's page (read the README file for direct links) and usually that's all that's needed. If this is the case (call Tech Support and find out), consider downloading and installing the "Spike" Paypal WPP module available here: The module is called "osCommerce Payment Module for PayPal Website Payments Pro". The main reason that module isn't in the contribs (anymore) is that the author has embedded code to keep track of those who use it. You can find that FTP program here: While I use Filezilla and think it's one of the better FTP managers out there, your problem probably had more to do with uploading the files in binary instead of ascii mode or it was set to auto and the program guessed wrong. (I get endless "Order Failure" email after trying to buy something) and cannot figure out why this testing process has to be so ridiculously complex Turn on debug mode and see why it's being denied. Guest Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Thanks for the tips Dynamo. I'll check out the log files... Quote
SteveDallas Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 YThe main reason that module isn't in the contribs (anymore) is that the author has embedded code to keep track of those who use it. The other reason is that it doesn't comply with PayPal's business rules. (It requires you to log into the store before being offered Express Checkout, and it allows you to use Direct Payments without offering Express Checkout.) --Glen Quote
