philip56
Hi. I have just installed and tested the PayPal IPN contribution and it worked first time. One slight problem though. Neither the email PayPal sends to me or the customer shows the items bought. Against the item/product name it shows my store name. I can get round this but I'm worried that the customer may be concerned. Any advice would be appreciated. Philip

MSP
Common problem, also do this... Friends,I had this problem as well, but only with PayPal. My understanding is that if the buyer does not click to be taken back to your site, your site does not get the confirmation that the order completed. Thus is does not show up in your admin or send the order confirmation email. There are older posts about this in the forum and I followed the advice given in one to ... - go to PayPal profile - go to Website Payment Preferences - Turn on AUTO RETURN and specify the URL you want the buyer to be redirected to once the payment is complete PayPal has some requirements about the return to URL so you will want to review them. Since making this change I have not had this problem again. Perhaps other payment processors offer a similar function that will help you to resolve this. Lotsa luck... ♥Vger
Yes, setting up Auto Return helps - but even then it takes a few seconds to kick in and if the customer just clicks to close the window even the auto-return does not work. Basically the osCommerce Pay Pal IPN was written to solve one problem (pre-saving carts so you'd always have a copy of it), but fails to resolve the issue of the return of the final confirmation from Pay Pal being made automatic - which is possible. Pay Pal does send out that code, it's just that the module hasn't been written to act on it. Vger

I havn't had time to look at these solutions yet (not live yet - still testing) but I will feed back on my progress.
philip56
Thank you very much to you both. I havn't had time to look at these solutions yet (not live yet - still testing) but I will feed back on my progress. I have now had a chance to look at your replies properly. Thanks for your help. PayPal is autoreturning already even though I haven't enabled it as I use my PayPal account for more than one site. I'm already getting my copy of the order so I can match payment to order. I'm really only worried that customers might be suspicious of the fact that their PayPal receipt does not list what they bought. Have you any suggestions for solving that? choosealogin
In your admin panel, go to modules>>payment>>paypal IPN There should be an option Transaction TypeSend individual items to PayPal or aggregate all as one total item? Per Item Aggregate Aggregate puts them together, with your store name as the one and only "item". Per Item will list them separately.

Guest
Gosh, it's as simple as that! Thanks very much. Philip OK So I'm possibly an idiot but I too am having an issue and I don't see the modules>payment>paypal IPN option to choose between aggregate and per item. I only see regular paypal as a payment option and: enable paypal email address currency payment zone set order status sort order Any help would be greatly appreciated. Wendy James
Paypal IPN is something you have to install. osCommerce comes with a very basic version. I would suggest installing http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2679 Wendy James Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep. redbone
However, when you use the 'per item' with the PayPal IPN, things get wacked out if your customer purchases more than one item at a time. Shipping/Sales Tax doesn't get passed thru to the PayPal payment page.
