phpMyAdmin vs. MySQL

Environment:

Running Apache on XP Home

MYSQL, PHP4+, osCommerce

 

The web server has been running for 2+ years. I can access the osCommerce admin page. I also have full access to the Server locally and remotely.

 

I have setup password for the root of MySQL. After adding the server "localhost" locally amd remotely, user "root" and password "???" to phpMyAdmin, I found out that the "config.inc.php" is empty in both cases. No woner I got the #1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) error. I can see the time stamp of the "config.inc.php".

 

What do I need to do to get phpMyAdmin saves the config to "config.inc.php"?
