Problems With File Permissions

Smallz

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have just completed installing osCommerce onto my server and set all the permissions as suggested onto the files.

But i still get the error at the top of the page stating that the catalog/admin/configuration.php file is not read only and is a security breach, although i set the CHMOD to 444 for Read Only Access.

Any ideas what i can do to resolve this??

Thanks.

Hi Smallz

I'm very new to osCommerce, but I've been playing with Linux for years.

My /admin/configuration.php is set to 644 -- try that.

Obvious point but, error checks and their messages are written by humans, who make errors.

It may be warning of a security breach when the real problem is that it can't be written by 'user'.

With chmod errors it's also worth checking the status of directories above.

My admin is 755. And catalog is also 755.

They may be 'wrong', but they work!
