patrickb42
Hello ! I'd just like to know until how many products in the OsCommerce database could reasonnably be used ? OK it's unlimited products ... but for a store containing basically 30 000 differents products (musical stuff), is it imaginable or not (of course this number will grow). Maybe, the problem behind is to adapt the Sql statements to optimize the accesses ? Could someone tell me more about this ? Thanks a regards Patrick

Thanks a regards Patrick the store will cope with that any more - the only problems I see for you are allocating the different products to categories - how many categories will you have, and adding the products to the database - very time consuming (I can upload all your products for you in about an hour if you need) Hope this helps Regards Mark Regards Mark A Reynolds

Yes, it is possible, but are there any examples on the web of such a website ? The problem is different in that the client already owns a shop on the street and manages his line of products with a commercial management software and of course, he'd like to have a gateway between this software and the ecommerce website to update in real time (or almost) the OsCommerce database or the commercial software database. The software can export data, can these data be updated in OsCommerce ? Is OsCommerce compatible with commercial management softwares (and which) or just by export/import .csv files or others ? Thanks and regards
Mediajuggle
There are systems available that interface with OsCommerce but if your client is not into learning new software, then it's going to take some custom programming to create that gateway.
