Rkoa63
Hello Everyone, I would like to start off by saying that the forums have been incredibly helpful. I've only asked a couple of questions but each time I have gotten quick, correct responses. So thanks everyone. Now onto the site. We are looking for feedback whether it be positive (hopfully), negative, or neutral. Its an adult toy website, which seems to be a popular on this particualr forum, so click with caution. The site is aimed primarily at females and couples. We also wanted to create a site that didnt fit the cliche toy site on the internet today. A few things that still need to be done: 1) We need to get Paypal working 2) The "Featured Products" on the main page still need to be linked, because as of right now they go nowhere. 3) We still have hundreds of products that still need to be entered, we have only entered in about 100 so far. So keeping those things in mind, here is the link: www.editoys.com Thanks again! We look forward to hearing from you.
Guest
Very nice, clean, simple intro page. Like the mouseover effect for the top navigation header links. Site moves along super fast and I'm on snail-slow AOL dial-up (no connection over 42000). And I mean - SUPER fast! Love the logo and header. Off hand - I see nothing wrong with the site - VERY nice.... ;-)
Rkoa63
Thank you so much for taking a look at. I'm very happy that you like it. It's always scary waiting for what people have to say about it. Once again, thank you. Anyone else?
Guest
Nice indeed. I agree, the site is fast and the colors are easy on the eyes. :D

wingdzell
Wow, I really don't have anything to add really. I absolutely love your layout. Great color scheme, nice use of... well, everything.
Andrew Yuen
Hi Mike, Very nice simple site. I would prefer that your navigation buttons stick. So that when I click on About Us it stays green etc. Also when I click on a category I notice that you made it so the store displays everything within that category on one page. For example I click on Anal Stimulator and all the products show up on the page under the 3 categories which are hard to spot. I rather have less products on the category page because of all the vertical scrolling. You also may want to fix the broken picture on this product: http://www.editoys.com/product_info.php?products_id=117 Andrew Yuen osCommerce, Community Team
Rkoa63
Thank you Wingdzell and Andyy15 for your feedback. I checked on the stuff that you had mentioned Andyy15. I too agree that there were too many products being listed. I changed it to only show 20 products. I also deleted the product with the missing picture because i could not find a decent enough one to put on the site. Thank you for finding that. Once again, thank you everyone for your feedback. Paypal is now working and the SSL is installed and ready to go. So i guess we are techincally in business, even though we still have MANY MANY items to put in the site. I also have to put in our Conditions of Use as well. Thanks, Mike
Guest
After a very quick glance, it looks excellent. Great choice and use of colours, well executed flash (a rarity) and a good overall layout. I'll have a longer more in depth look later.
Chance
Visually your site is beautiful. You are missing your Terms of Use document. Your FAQ is not bad. Your privacy policy says that you will not share information, but your FAQ says you send their order to a warehouse? If you are drop shipping then you need to disclose that the customers order information (which includes personally identifiable information) is being sent to a third party for order fulfillment. Your need to pay a little more attention to SEO. There are very good header and meta tag controllers that will allow you to specify meta tags for specific products (not the same keywords for all pages like you have now), and your on-page SEO is not that great. For example- on the product_info pages the item name should be in a H1 tag; this is not the case. You can easily style the H1 tag to match your current type display settings and wrap the item name. Furthermore, you have no H1-H3 text on any of your pages- while this makes your page easier to style it's probably the worst thing you can do in relation to Google, who looks at H-tags to see what is important and "what the page is about". As far as adult product sites go this is one of the best I have seen but I still have to question the motivation and business case for the site. Adult product sites are like computer sites- there are 50 billion of them. What is your unique selling proposition that would make customers buy from you instead of the other ones? A pretty site will take you far, but I don't think that alone is going to get you the sales. My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you. warrenerjm
Hi I like the colours on your site, but I am not seeing it well. It is all on the left. I can see that you have only two columns but there is a large white space down the right hand side of my screen. The header picture cuts the let hand side of the figure off. Also when I go to click on one of the buttons in the header an outline comes around the header area, which spoils the white/clean look. There seems to be quite a bit of duplication of info links in the header, left column & footer. I am confused what the Shop button in the header does as the categories are in the left column. But having said that it is a nice looking site, especially as it is aimed at the ladies. It looks fun & not sordid. Well done & good luck Julie

If you are drop shipping then you need to disclose that the customers order information (which includes personally identifiable information) is being sent to a third party for order fulfillment. I still have to complete the Terms of Use. I've been working on it slowly but surely. Regarding the privacy policy; thank you for picking up on that. I completely over looked it. Even though I will be going to the wholesaler every day, or at least every other day to pick up orders, there are still times where I probably won?t be able to make it and will have to pass the order info over to them; so I will definitely be adding that into the privacy statement. Your need to pay a little more attention to SEO. I've been reading up on SEO, but it?s still a little foreign to me. I will be improving this as i learn more about it. Thank you for the info though. I do realize that we are a small fish in a VERY large pond. As far as our competitive advantage is concerned, there is really nothing that we can do or offer that hasn?t been offered in the past or that 100,000 other sites are already doing. When the site was designed the main thing we wanted was to be different. We wanted the site to be visually appealing and not blend in with all the other clich? adult toy sites out there. We hope that over time we will be recognized as that site that really sticks out in people?s minds. I would be naive to think that this site is going to make me a millionaire, but that doesn?t mean it might not happen. My girlfriend and I are still in college and have a lot of friends spread out over the U.S. so we will definitely be using that to our advantage as far as advertising goes. Thank you for feedback and info

We have had some people tell us that the "edi" in the header is too light; so we will be making that a little darker. Part of the logo is cut off because in order to make her completely visable, she would be too small. Regarding the rest of the stuff you mentioned; i have no idea how to fix it but i will definitely look into it  There seems to be quite a bit of duplication of info links in the header, left column & footer. I am confused what the Shop button in the header does as the categories are in the left column. But having said that it is a nice looking site, especially as it is aimed at the ladies. It looks fun & not sordid. The purpose of the Shop button was to show the most recently added products to the site. I think a more fitting name should be "Latest Products" or "Newest Products" so we will be changing that as well. Thank you for taking the time to look it over and give your feedback, we really appreciate it. -Mike
Guest
I think the site looks great, and I love the logo. I haven't done much with OSCommerce yet, but from what little I have done I know of a couple minor improvements that would put a nice finish on your page. 1) install Image Magic or a like contribution that will make you nicer looking thumbnails. You don't want your, ahem, pointier products looking any more jagged than they already are. 2) install the Better PopUp contribution, so that your popup images are framed properly and not cut off on the bottom. Good luck!
kzod
One of the better osc sites I've seen, adult or not. Very nice, clean design. But I agree that you are overshowing products in the category pages. While testing, I noticed that whenever I tried to add an item to cart it took me to the shopping cart and said "shopping cart is empty", nothing was added. Don't know if you're changing something now, but it's offline.

I very much agree with the suggestions you made and will definitely be looking into the contributions you mentioned. Once again, thank you for taking the time to look the site over and give your feedback. Have a great weekend! -Mike

Don't know if you're changing something now, but it's offline. Thanks! We're so happy that people like the simple, clean design. A few of our friends didnt like the site because they were so use to what the "typical" toy site looked like, and couldnt understand why we wanted to go with a different look. But after we explained to them that there are 34093204324 adult sites on the internet and that we need every thing we possibly can get to differentiate ourselves they finally got it. So anyways, back to your comments: I agree with you about overshowing products in the catagory pages. The problem is that the we are kind of stuck with that because the products on the category page as well as the products under the "Latest Products" button are both linked to the New Products Module. So if i change the settings, i wont have anything show up under the "Latest products". If you have any suggestions about how to change that, please let me know because i dont like it either. Regardind the shopping cart issue: I was having the same problem yesterday as well. My friend was going through the website seeing how everythign works and he was unable to login to his account as well as add anything to the shopping cart. It's weird because i just tested everything on Thursday and it worked great. I will have to look into it and see what the problem is. Once again, thank you for looking over the site. Hope you have a good weekend. -Mike
