Date issues

Recommended Posts

I have this quite unusual problem. I've installed a finnish language, and the dates, months and days of the week, keeps still showing in english.

I've tried everything I can.

I added this: define('MONTH_JANUARY', 'Tammikuu'); etc. to catalog/includes/languages/finnish.php and to catalog/includes/languages/finnish/index.php. Also in the footer.php in the catalog/includes/ but that didn't help either.

Where is the code located and what do I need to do?

Thanking you in anticipation,

At the top of includes/languages/finnish.php, you should see something similar to this:

// look in your $PATH_LOCALE/locale directory for available locales
// or type locale -a on the server.
// Examples:
// on RedHat try 'en_US'
// on FreeBSD try 'en_US.ISO_8859-1'
// on Windows try 'fi', or 'Finnish'
@setlocale(LC_TIME, 'fi_FI.ISO_8859-1');

Try the different options. The exact string that works will depend on your server. (It's also possible you can't set the locale on your server.)

@setlocale(LC_TIME, 'fi_FI');

@setlocale(LC_TIME, 'fi');

@setlocale(LC_TIME, 'Finnish');

Try each of those instead of what's there to see if one of them works.
