2 questions on selection of host

Hello,

I am selecting a host that supports oscommerce well but due to limited budget i got to find answers on 2 questions:

a. One host offers password protection on control panel, it includes access database but charges extra money on MySQL database. My question is, what are the functional areas to be affected if I run oscommerce on a host supporting access but without My Sql database?

b. Another host supports .htaccess but said they couldn't offer password protection on control panel, my question is in this case is it simple for a newbie like me to accomplish password protection? Briefly how?

Thanks.

No webhost 'supports' OSC. They may offer it as a one-click install, but they do no support it. In other words, if you need help setting it up once installed, you'll be visiting this forum a lot.

As for password protection and MySQL, you need a webhost that doesn't charge extra for things. A good webhost will offer both of those and more as part of one single hosting package.

Check out AQHost dot com - $6.99 a month for the whole shebang.
