Security Warning

I could use some help if there's some out there. I have been wrestling with this for days and cannot come up with a solution. I have an SSL connection. My certificate displays. My lock locks. But on all checkout pages BUT my order_info.php page, I get a Security Warning, "You have requested an encrypted page that contains some unencrypted information. Information that you see or enter on this page could easily be read by a third party."

I have looked and looked through posts and even googled trying to find an answer. I removed the left column and the right column and the header and anything that linked to anything not https, even the counter, from my checkout_shipping.php page and STILL got the warning.

I really need to start putting the products into this store instead of trying to make the warning go away, but I think it wouldn't be very good to have customers getting the warning. Can anyone help?

The reason your getting this warning is because of the image used for your banner link comes from the go daddy site. If you want to display this banner copy the image and save it to your images directory, then go to the banner manager and link that image to your banner.

Les, great info ... I struggled with this one also, Firefox, IE said the page was secure, however displayed a broken lock. This must have been because the banner link was ssl protected also?

Hi,

I guess I still don't understand. I have a logo at the top of the page - that's in the images directory. I just put the seal from godaddy on the site this morning. It has https connection calling it, so I didn't think that could cause a problem - but in any event, the problem was there before I installed the seal. ?? Is this what you mean by "banner link" or is there something I have missed? Thanks

Hi,

That's a good suggestion, and I appreciate it, but I don't think that's it. It has https connection calling it - and in any event, the problem was there before I installed the seal. Not coming through the banner.php thing. I have been checking my site via Netscape and that's where I get the "unencrypted" security warning; but I just went and checked it with Internet Explorer and that was really interesting. I get the secure and insecure warning and when I click "No" the page presents with nothing except text - no lines or bullets or anything. SO the problem is in everything that is being called to the page EXCEPT the Godaddy Seal, which is still merrily there when all the other "insecure" images are gone. So what I really need to know is how to get the images onto the secure pages securely. If anyone has a link to this information, that would be great. I'm sure other people have been dealing with it. Thanks.

Hello all,

Just wanted to add that I went to general help and the answer seems to be there for this problem. I have only checked my site out on Netscape so far, but the code they have cleared up the problem there. The link to the thread is http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=213876

I found that the third code was the one that worked for my site:

$request_type = ($_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] == 443) ? 'SSL' : 'NONSSL';

Osmyma, Glad to hear you found a fix ... this had me wondering also. I'm going to make a note of "KG Thorson's" code you referenced also in case I ever run across this in the future...
