Server Requirement Error:

Sorry I had to repost this, but my whole osCommerce site wont work!!!

 

"Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory."

 

What does the above mean??? I tried to find the php.ini file but cannot locate it. Please help.

Your host has 'register_globals' disabled in the php configuration.

 

Generally you don't have access to php.ini

 

The way around it is:

 

If your on a Linux based host, then you can try putting an .htaccess file in your root with the following statement in it:

 

php_flag register_globals on

 

If your on a Windows host, then you'll probably have to apply the register globals patch (found in the contributions section)

Hey, thanks a lot...I contacted my host and they added the file and everything is working again! Thanks for your advice!

I have a slighlty complex .htaccess file, so could anyone give me a ample of where to put it. my .htaccess file is as follows:

 

IndexIgnore .htaccess */.??* *~ *# */HEADER* */README* */_vti*

 

<Limit GET POST>

order deny,allow

deny from all

allow from all

</Limit>

<Limit PUT DELETE>

order deny,allow

deny from all

</Limit>

AuthName www.cyberlink.net.au

AuthUserFile /home/cyberli/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.pwd

AuthGroupFile /home/cyberli/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.grp
