Editing Category Page

Hey,

I want to add an image at the top of one of the category pages without using the 'category image' feature. This is because the image I want to use is pretty big, and in order for it to be displayed corretly I changed the heading image dimensions. The only problem is that this changed all of the category images, and now all of them are big and don't look right.

So my question is: Can I edit individual category pages?

If you don't understand what I mean, compare these two pages:

Yes there are several contributions written that will do this.

Search the contributions for "category description" or "extra text category" etc.

Several of these allow html to be added about the list of products in a category. You can use this to link to images as you see fit.

Backup before making changes. Backup before making changes! Backup before making changes!!

You did do a backup? eh?

Thanks a lot...I tried this one I found and the directions confused me and I guess I did it wrong. It didn't work, so when uploading my backups I got some php error. I tried fixing everything but I can't get rid of that error. Maybe someone with more php experience can tell me what exactly is the problem.

function tep_get_category_description($category_id, $language_id) { $category_query = tep_db_query("select categories_description from " . TABLE_CATEGORIES_DESCRIPTION . " where categories_id = '" . $category_id . "' and language_id = '" . $language_id . "'"); $category = tep_db_fetch_array($category_query); return $category['categories_description']; }
