re; edit .htaccess file

in installatin doc, edit .htaccess file was a requirement but i don't know how to do it.

have anyone did this before and give me a set of coding instruction for me??

i created pwd and htaccess but don't work.

 

.htaccess

AuthUserFile /home/content/s/e/u/seungkim/html/catalog/admin/.htpasswd

AuthName deepdownheart.com

AuthType Basic

<LimitGET>

require user isolina

</Limit>

 

pwd

Before you try to write your own .htaccess files why don't you look in your web hosting control panel to see if there is a feature called Password or Directory Protection - which will write the files for you.

It looks to me that you have your password file in your admin file. I'm not sure, but I was under the impression that it needed to be in a folder of its own, not in the folder you were trying to protect. That being said, I haven't been able to get mine to work either, although it is prompting me for my password.
