Payment Method Dropdown box

I allow payment via Credit Card, Paypal or Check/Money Order. I have tried moving the radio buttons to the left hand side of the checkout_payment.php page but my customers still:

1. Enter their credit card number
   
2. Emter the expiration date
   
3. ACCIDENTALLY click on one of the other radio buttons (the credit card button is set by default)
   

When the order is completed, the system does not pass me the credit card number or expiration date.

 

Is there anyway to change the radio buttons to a drop down box? How would I go about doing this?
