Integrating SecPay or other Payment service providers

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I am looking to build an online shop for a client for the first time. I am aware of the following so far:

- i need SSL (https://) for secure transactions

- the client needs to obtain a payment service provider account, or an internet merchant bank account

Now my question is if the client wishes to go ahead and use the payment service provider e.g Secpay, is it really a matter of linking to the SecPay payment page and then back to the client's website? Is it that easy or is there anything i should look out for? I would prefer to integrate the secpay payment page in the oscommerce template - is this challenging at all? I noticed that in the admin for the oscommerce system there is a section called 'modules'. I installed the SecPay module and i noticed that it automatically redirects to a payment page with the URL https://www.secpay.com/java-bin/ValCard. Is this what would happen if a real customer used the system? How does the secpay payment page know how to transfer money to the clients bank account? I guess there must be some kind of admin control at SecPay's end??

Are there any other pitfalls i should be wary of when building the online system, as with this being my first one i dont want to mess it up!!

any help would be fantastic

regards Jonathan
