robojob Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 can anyone point me in the direction of instructions on how to secure the admin panel. i dont think my host supports htaccess so any other ways of doing?? Cheers.
Epic Mike Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Log in to your control panel with your host and look for password protect. Just add protection to your admin folder. If you can't find it, contact your host.

Now i am struggling to add on some contribution to the purpose, could anyone please recommend which makes the best to password protect admin folder?
Epic Mike Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Will they not let you use .htaccess? If they won't let you password protect a folder, I would get a new host.

Cheers. I'm having a similar problem. I am using GoDaddy on a shared server and there is no password protection offered that way. I tried to use a htpasswd file and modified my htaccess file and looked like it might be working but when I tried to get past the password it just cleared the form and required input again. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but at least I seem to be on the right track. Jake :)
