Added Field to product_info.php

Well I added a field to product_info.php it's called products_artist. It's for a cd shop. Anyway..in the db I have added products_artist and when I fill in the artist name to a product in nicely generates it through to product_info.php and it shows the artist name in the Product layout.

Now I want have a field in the admin (categories.php) where I can add or change the artist name. So after everything i found with name in the categories.php (admin/categories.php) I've copied the line of name and changed all containing name to artist in there (well you get the point I guess..)..

Now when in PHPMYADMIN I've added the artist and go to change that in my admin section it nicely reviews the artist name in the artist field that is supposed to be there...BUT!! (here's where it comes) when I change the artist name OR any other field and say update the only thing it does is pick the 5th character in the field from artist so if I've got BEASTIE BOYS filled in it will only sent throught the T and put that in the database. Another example CANNIBAL CORPSE gives me only the I..

Anybody has any clue what this can be? Or how to fix this?

you will have to post your code and maybe someone can see what's wrong.

But ideally you should take advantage and utilize the manufacturers functionality for this purpose. Instead of being the manufacturer will be the artist of the track/album.

Yeah I know that would be ideally but I also need to have the manufacturers inserted..

I only see part of that file, anyways concentrate on this part here:

You also want to use the parameter that is passed from the global arrays so see how the products name is set and do the same for this part. Since you inserted the name in the products_description table you must bind it with the language.

You do not want to use the pInfo object solely there. You need to make it conditional like the products name does.

I now have put in this:

But this stops the code exactly here when I want to load the form, it's like it crashes on the 2nd part.

Because the last thing it shows in the code is <td class="main"> (the 2nd one). It doesn't even close with </body>.

But whenever I change tep_get_products_artist to tep_get_products_name there is no problem..but the problem then is that it loads the Product Name into the Artist field and it just needs to load the Artist name into the Artist Name field.
