Using osCommerce for 'product enquiries'

I can not find this topic covered anywhere else....so here goes.

 

I would like to show our products as an online store...but not take payments. Sounds strange I know, but we install large screens and specialist sky installs to pubs, clubs and hotels.

 

So the customer would be selecting items to the cart to generate an enquiry not to checkout. Is osCommerce an appropriate solution and if so how would I go about making the required changes.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

basically a couple of things you could do.

Install a contribution like this at the top of osc.

Add another button for the enquiry to the product listing and info pages.

then modify the catalog\application_top to redirect to the form page when the visitor clicks the enquiry button.

 

And in the form page its up to you how to handle it. Store the enquiry details in the dbase or generate emails.
