Is there a way to change the function to use a specified default shipping method (ie USPS Priority)?

yes you could use the $quotes['methods'][$i]['title'] or $quotes['methods'][$i]['id'] to identify a particular method and flag the cheapest rate for return. Same function.

This doesnt appear to be working properly in my shop

i.e. i have 4 shipping modules enabled as follows

1. FREE Shipping

2. Individual Shipping

3. Royal Mail 1st Class (Shop is UK based)

4. Royal Mail Parcel

now if i set an item up in my store that has no postage costs associated i set the individual shipping cost to be 0.00 and i set weight to be 0.00 this then brings up the following options in the shopping cart during checkout

Free Shipping Only ?0.00

Royal Mail Standard Parcel

Parcel Service Best for Heavier Items ?3.60

Royal Mail Standard First Class

Non-urgent deliveries ?0.32

But the one at the bottom has its radio button checked not the free shipping one, in face i would prefer it to not even show the shipping page at all if free shipping is an option.

Any ideas where to look for whats my issue ?

ah think i may have resolved this by simple switching on the option for enabling downloads :)

It now simply skips the delivery options page if the weight is set to 0.00 :)
