Can anyone help me get this green bar off my front page?

There is a green bar and writing on my front page, is really annoying!

Can anyone help me take it off?

Instead of posting your index.php file (we know what that looks like so it does not help at all) How about you post the url for your site and maybe a description of where the bar is on your page.

I think you downloaded the wrong index.php file. If you are using English at your store, it should be the one that lies at the end of this path: catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php
