tradertt Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/public_html/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. What permission do I set? I have tried setting it to 444 but to no avail.
tradertt Posted May 27, 2006 Author Posted May 27, 2006 I cannot seem to change the permissions. When I do it, it resets back to 666. Tried using Cpanel File Manager to do it and also my SmartFTP to do it but to no avail.

I use my ftp client and right click on the file name, the bottom option is change permissions/chmod. That gives the ability to check or uncheck hte permissions I want or need. The only other thing I can think of it might be, is if you are logging in as someone other than the administrator or superuser, you may not have permission to change the permissions on the file.
MJP Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 If it's reverting back it could mean your hosting company isn't allowing you to set persmissions. I'd get on the phone to them and tell them you need to set 755 permissions.
choosealogin Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I think you meant 644, or 444, correct? If it's reverting back it could mean your hosting company isn't allowing you to set persmissions. I'd get on the phone to them and tell them you need to set 755 permissions.
MJP Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I think you meant 644, or 444, correct? Yes, I meant 644. Thanks for that correction!
