doc root?

shayrgob

Recommended Posts

I know I'm supposed to install the catalog folder to the doc root but the prob is taht it appears as if this is how my root is: httP://www.importwerks.com/shayrgob ---> notice the shayrgob (my user name). But isn't the root supposed to be importwerks.com by itself so that when I upload the catalog it will be: HttP://www.importwerks.com/catalog ?

Your document root is where you put all of your files/folders so that they appear on your website at your domain name.

FTP to your website and locate the document root folder, which may be called something like html or public_html or httpdocs etc. Once there look in the top right address bar of the ftp programme, which will slow you a pathway e.g. /var/www/html/ or www/public_html/ - this is the path to the root of your website.
