Server Requirement Error?

Error message when I try to do the configuration step:

I put the catalog files into the catalog folder...

Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration.

This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess

file in your catalog directory.

 

I figured out how to access the file .htaccess, but I have no idea

what to change IN the file .htaccess
