osCommerce problems and PHP/MySQL versions

My ISP is running PHP version 4.3.4 and MySQL version 4.0.21, while my local machine is running later versions, PHP 5.0.3 and MySQL 4.1.7.

 

I have installed an osCommerce contribution, Custom META Tags per Item v1.0 on my local machine and on my ISP's server. The contribution mentioned works properly with the later versions on my local equipment and does not work properly with the early versions with my ISP.

 

My ISP would like to have some indication that the differences in versions could be a cause of my problem before upgrading MySQL and/or PHP.

 

I am wondering if anybody has any knowledge about PHP and MySQL versions regarding this specific modification or with osCommerce performance in general. Thanks in advance to any responders.

There are differences between PHP4 and 5 but I dont think that is a problem with the latest osC update.

 

You could have significant differences with MySql though, infact I am trying to resolve one now. The problem I am having is to do with left joins and how the different versions handle it. I thought I had resolved this but I am still getting grief. It could be the problems I am getting now are new and not related to the different versions.

 

If you post any error messages you have here or the support thread for Custom META Tags per Item, I am sure someone here will be able to help out.
