bangkok Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006  Has anyone ever heard of why people in China can't load my webpage?..this is really bad, because they will be updating and managing my page. I'm like 30% complete with the page, but that shouldn't be a reason at all, cuz everyone else can access the site, but if they are in China, its no go. I wonder if there is something I need to change in the header or some sort, or if I can report it to some gov't body in china to open up my page. any advice? thanks.. B
videobus Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Simple: China monitors and censors all incoming web traffic. If for whatever reason they don't like your site, it's put on a banned list. Even Google, Yahoo, etc. had to have a special site for China that the government has to monintor and approve. In case anyone had forgotten, China is still a communist country! No freedoms of any kind, except to increase our trade deficit with them.
jasonabc Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Even Google, Yahoo, etc. had to have a special site for China that the government has to monintor and approve. To see this censorship in full blown action - go to Google.com and search for Tiananmen Square. Then go to Google China (www.google.cn) and search for the same thing...... the search results for the China one are somewhat different to the US one.....
