Set Width Pages

Hi there.. Just a quick one - am currently making logo's and stuff - I've got my page to display at a set width after reading so many posts about it in here, however... what size is the 'average' to set the width to? I need to make the image the right size and to do that, I really need to know what the average page size is, or at least what most people tend to use?

Thanks :)

The standard width is 800 pixels..almost evryone will be able to view your site without scrolling...

however some people use 1000 pixels as more and more people have high-res larger screens now. It depends who your target audience is - what tpe of hardware are they likely to be using to view your website? Have a look at your competitors sites and other sites you like the design of and see what they use.

I build almost all sites at 750--because if you do 800 then there will be a scroll bar sometimes--at 750-775 you are completly safe without giving your users an annoying scroll bar

"The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer -- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer.
