application problem

hi, i have some pages that will come under another folder in catalog/new_folder where there will be pages but couldn't quite make it. how do i change certain files to locate the applilcation_top from inside the folder i tried giving ../includes ans such but then it shows errors, how do i link it to get details from english/anyfilename.php or connect it fo includes/filenames.php , i linked the css by giving extra ../css.css but how do i do this for all other pages, i am really worried about this, i hope i have expained it clearly, though not much
