landlocked Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 I'm sure that the question indicates my experience. I have installed v3.1.5 tar.gz, however am having trouble getting state tax to be included prior to sending to PayPal. Should I try "osCommerce PayPal IPN Module v1.1 For 2.2MS2"? What is the difference or advantage to using one over the other? Thanks for any help. val Quote

They should appear in the order confirmation page. You should go into admin and make adjustments to get what you want. Quote

I installed the IPN module with the tax fix contibution. As you stated Coopco, changing paypal modules did not fix it. I get no tax or even a TAX heading in the order confirmation page. I must be missing something obvious in the configuration. Here is what I have that may be associated with taxes. MY STORE: Country = United States zone = California Display Prices with tax = False LOCATIONS/TAXES My Tax Zones Folder Name = CA Country = United States Zone = California Tax Classes Taxable Goods Tax Rates Tax Class Title = Taxable Goods Zone = CA Tax Rate % = 7.25 Description = CA tax rate Priority = 0 Also in the PayPal Contributions, The Payment Zone is set to NONE if that matters. Thanks for any and all suggestions. val Quote

landlocked Posted May 24, 2006 Author Posted May 24, 2006 Look in admin in Modules, Order Total Modules, and confirm that taxes are enabled. Yes Taxes were enabled. I have found that setting up a "world" folder that has All Countries -All Zones, it will pass the correct total to paypal. However the total in the Confirmation page and the Admin/Orders page is slightly off, but that is most likely another problem??? If I set it up as --Country US -- Tax Zone California, no taxes show up. val Quote

I have GST set for Australian zones, and no taxes for the rest of the world. My only tax rate is GST. Are the differences only in rounding up or down. Quote

My only tax rate is GST. Are the differences only in rounding up or down. Thanks Coopco for your continuing help. It seems like I must not be setting the Tax Zones up correctly. For a test, the World (all Countries - all Zones) tax rate was 10%. The 10% was calculated on the product, BUT was also calculated on the shipping cost. That is where the Confirmation Page differences showed up. However only the 10% on the product was passed on to PayPal. This gave me the INVALID CART TEST. ?? When I use 0% for the World (all Countries - all Zones) the California Tax zone(Country= UnitedStates, Zone= California) rate of 7.25% does not get noticed probably due to calculating the World (all Countries - all Zones) at 0% first and never getting to the california tax zone. However when I just have one TAX Zone ie California Tax zone(Country= UnitedStates, Zone= California) it does not get noticed either. You say that you have two Zones. Do you mean two zones or two TAX Zones? I have what looks like every zone in the world (ten pages). val Quote

If I set up a tax zone of US-- COUNTRY = United States ZONES= ALL ZONES it works but US-- COUNTRY = United States ZONES= California does not. I have put this on hold for now. I suppose that it will become clear eventually. Thanks Again val Quote

They would enhance the other zones. Maybe this one would help? http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...arch,california Quote

They would enhance the other zones. Maybe this one would help? http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...arch,california Your suggestion led me to installing "Active Countries v1.01". I tried this contribution due to discovering that it wasn't just tax zones but also designating a certain shipping method for CA buyers was not working either. In creating a buyer account, it did not have a place to put a State name or code. It just asked for city, zip and country. I had assumed that it figured the STATE from the zip code. After installing "Active Countries v1.01" in the new accounts page, I now have a dropdown choice for state residence which solved both the tax and shipping issues. One small problem remains. On the confirmation page, the total is slightly higher than it should be. It varies in the few tests that I have ran from about .40 cents to $1.09. The sub total, tax and shipping are correct. When this is passed to the Sandbox, all is correct. Of course the cart test fails because of this and the order is placed on hold. Any idea as to why the incorrect total on the confirmation Page? Thanks val Quote
