Guest Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 DMOZ is a large human edited and trusted directory thats part of google or associated with Im not sure. It will help you with google if you get your site in DMOZ. It can take ages though to get your submision reviewed, up to 8 months. So the sooner you do it the better.
Guest Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 While you're waiting that 8 months (often a year or more) try submitting your site to the yahoo directory as well. They have both a free inclusion service and a paid inclusion service. Read about it on http://dir.yahoo.com Shameless Plug: I also run a paid listing shopping directory. Good solid backlink and crawled almost daily by Google, Yahoo, and MSN. See the link in my signature below.
Guest Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Are yahoo still doing fee submision. I tryed the other day but could find it. If they are there not making it easy to find. Do you have the link to the free submision on yahoo?
Guest Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html The FREE link is right there at the top. You do have to have a Yahoo account though. If you go to the category you want to submit to then click "Suggest a site" at the top right it gives you paid and free options as well. Good luck

Guest Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Thanks for the link Jibber. Ive been looking for that for ages.

Jack_mcs Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 It's All Products with Images and it should be the Dynamic Sitemap, not Sitemap MS2. And I prefer Header Tags over Dynamic Meta Tags., for what that's worth. Guest Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Does dynamic sitemap work with ultimate urls? The only reason I use sitemap ms2 is it says it works with chemos ultimate urls? Header tags controller or dynamic meta tags. I cant really remember which one I used. all products with pictures http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1501
daz_75 Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 ok thanks, i have installed the first 3 of the contribs with no problems  Just need to decide on the meta tag one. What do i need that picture one for, what does it do for me? I have already installed imagemagic, will it conflict? Cheers Daz
Guest Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 The all products is just a way of building some internal links around your site so bots can get to your products easyier. The all products without pictures is good and I found it did well in SERPs but perhaps to well. Visitors to the site where landing on that page which is agiant list of all your products and then leaving. The all products with pictures is the same but with pictures and split into pages of less than 100 products. Is kind of a compromise between good for bots and good for customers too. It doesnt affect the way your site proccess images at all. oh, you could install all manufacturers aswell. If you want to look at these contributions in action have a look at my site. The links in my profile.

Cheers Daz As mentioned, it provides an easy way for the SE's to get to your links, which usually means faster listings and updates. It does it in an SEO proper way, which the other All Products doesn't so you need to be watchful of that. It also provides images for your customers, which is important since people like images much more than they like text. Guest Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 You can change your default tags in admin/configure otherwise it sorts it for you. Notice the title of the page reflects the product your viewing. What you using to manage your stock? Looks like youve got a lot of products on there?
