scootd Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 We are testing on a local Apache server using osx panther and Dreamweaver 8. Everything is working - we are able to change products and categories, however, when we try to upload and image we get: Error: Catalog images directory is not writeable: We have set all permissions to rw, and chmod 770, and restarted the server but still can't upload images. Any help greatly appreciated ... Scootd
spax Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Try 755 or 777 but if that works, change them back after you have done your updates.
scootd Posted May 18, 2006 Author Posted May 18, 2006 We have tried all permission changes, chmod 777 with no luck, also looked at Server Info in osC admin to insure File Upload is enabled, ok. scot
scootd Posted May 19, 2006 Author Posted May 19, 2006 Ok, this issue has been solved. Apparently when using osx and dreamweaver 8 it can be difficult to change permissions through chmod on a local server. We tried ftp using dw, then <sudo chmod -R 777 ./Sites, using terminal, did not work. The Solution: cmd i, to open "get info" for catalog folder, then click open "details" and set owner, group, and others to rw Cheers
spax Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Thanks for posting the solution. As a BTW, most people on here, that are all knowledgable (not me :D ), will tell you not to use Dreamweaver for FTP. It has been stated before on here that there are issues, using it for FTP. I always use SmartFTP.
