Paypal as payment processor

I got this answer from Paypal:

"If the cart you are using is on the list, simply

log in to your cart provider and select PayPal as the payment processor. If you don't already have a cart, you may choose one from the list."

How do I log in and choose Paypal to process my credit card payments? I already have Paypal as an option for customers, but I want my credit card orders to also go through Paypal.

Go into your admin control panel and under modules look for payments. You will see the PayPal option there. Highlight it and you should be able to install it and setup your options.

You need to set up an account with paypall. One that is for vendors not for buyers. To configure your store to accept paypall go to admin panel>modules>payment>paypall

Backup before making changes. Backup before making changes! Backup before making changes!!

You did do a backup? eh?

No, that just enables customers to pay via Paypal. I need to configure my site to have Paypal as a Payment processor for all credit card purchases - big difference. Thanks anyway.

Any one else know?

If you want to accept cc payments from non-paypal members you need to set it up in your paypal account in your profile. I believe it is under website payment preferences, paypal account optional.

Once you have done this and installed the paypal module in your store you should be good to go.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

I have the paypal account optional turned on. If you install the paypal module in the store, it just lists it as paying via Paypal.

If you turn on the credit card option in the module, you accept credit cards seperately. Then you get the credit card info in your data base. What I need to do is get the credit cards processed by Paypal without the customer clicking the "Paypal" option in the checkout. That seems to be the reason for using a shopping cart in the first place - to accept payment without the customer knowing they are going through Paypal. The chick at Paypal seemed to think this was possible. Is it???

I hope I don't sound snotty. I'm just getting really frustrated. :-)

If you want to use paypal then the customer will have to go to the paypal to pay, no way around it.

Paypal does have a paypal pro option but you have to apply for that seperately from your normal paypal account and while there is a paypal pro module in the contribution section I believe it is still a work in process. You may want to check out the support thread and see how it is coming along.

If you want to process cc's onsite they you need a regular merchant account or you need to paypal pro, you will also need to have a ssl certificate on your site.

I have the Paypal Pro already. SSL certificate? It was after I got that Paypal Pro that they told me to go to osCommerce and configure my site to enable Paypal Payment processing for the credit cards behind the scenes. :-( I don't get it.

Well if you are already signed up for paypal pro then you will need to download and install the module from the contribution area and then visit the support thread for help getting it setup.

Anytime you are accepting cc card info onsite you will need a ssl certificate. All merchants that I know require this and I doubt paypal is any different though not having use the paypal pro module I cannot say for sure but I would be surprised if it was not required.

Where can you get a merchant account cheaper than $20/month? I ask because the cheapest I found and used was from DiscoverCard which cost me 3-4% per trans plus monthly fees of $35.00 plus a yearly fee of $50.00.

I dropped them after a few years and now just use PayPal - but - now it seems PayPal's module only gives the purchaser the choice of (1) using their PayPal account to make purchases or (2) signing up for a PayPal account and then purchase through them. To me this looks more like I'm advertising for PayPal than just using them as a processor. Not happy about that. This forces people to sign up with PayPal in order to buy anything. Not good for my business.

Any suggestions...my ears are open.

Thanks.
