Installation on WinXP pro

I'm having problems installing OSCommerce on Windows XP with MySQL 5 and PHP5. The OSCommerce installation starts and I provide the connection details to my MySQL server :

But the next step fails with a blank screen :

 

I've been checking for correct PHP and MySQL installation and everything looks ok so far as I can see.

 

Any ideas anyone?

My webserver is local so I've simply performed a file copy of the OSCommerce catalog files and subfolders to the root of my local IIS webserver and allocated permission to the local IIS guest account on these files.
