Text to image custom type?

Got a client that wants you to be able to type a custom message and see it displayed on the product in the font and size that the company prints in. I will have to have all the letters cut into their own image (a-z) but does anyone have any idea how this needs to be done code wise? I scrubbed the net for answers but couldnt find a thing - would javascript power this?

or consider the reviews functionality of the osc you could perhaps duplicate the code to do something like that.
