Hello,

I am wondering how can you make the catalog main page open faster? I added images with a Table in the main Content area of the Catalog via includes/languages/english/index.php in the define('TEXT_MAIN', part... I dont know if this is the right way to do this or if there is a different way to add images and content to the main content in the catalog. It is very slow to open all all the images, allthough they are very well sliced. This makes the page load very slow. I just installed Page Cache v1.5 by Chemo but I dont know if it will do anything to make it faster. Does anybody know how to make this load faster, and if I did it right... or is there a better way to code and display content ???

You can view the page here: http://printerzone.net/ and you will see what I am talking about. The same thing happens with the header! Thanks! :D

The biggest gain will come from installing an image auto thumbnailer. There are also a couple of contributions that will help. There is a thread that details a number of changes. I can't recall the change but I think if you search for "speed optimization" you will be able to find it. You could also get gzip compression in admin. Don't go any higher than 2 though since the gain starts to drop off as the number increases. And finally there is a page cache contribuiton. I think this causes more problems than it is worth but a lot of people use it so maybe that's just me.

Not sure what you've got going on at the moment but most of the image links are broke.

There is no problem linking images directly in your index.php, but keep in mind the size. A good contribution like "Image Magic" will help you dramatically.
