Migration issues with upcoming versions of OSC

We are probably a lot of people waiting for the new version 3.0 of OSC.

 

So am I actually and my shop has got more and more mods and a quite voluminous database.

I think it upgrading to a new version will be quite tricky, isn't it?

 

What is actually the philosophy regarding migrations?

Will it be possible just to upload the old database upon the new version of OSC?

 

Will that create a huge mess?

 

I just have tried actually a test using my actual database OSC2.2 with an actual vanilla distribution and have got a working shop, but a lot of duplicates in the administration panel.

 

Did somebody actually consider that issues and have gathered some experience about it?

 

I'd love to hear about it.
